The geometry is simply described as two acrylic cylinders. The first is hollow
and mounts to the manipulator. The second is solid mounts to the acrylic
source. Aside from mounting the source, these sections also serve to move the
source away from the manipulator, minimizing the neutron captures occurring on
that material. These two sections are joined together in a complicated
arrangement that is not modelled.
The actual geometry is more complicated, and has been modelled using four
detector regions. These regions are desribed below:
- ICALI_CF_SRC The source is a right circular cylinder, with radius
1.27 cm and half-height 1.27 cm. The activity is located at the center. The
geometry is structured so that the $translate_geom command will place the
center of the source region at the specified coordinates.
- ICALI_CF_STEM The stem region has four primitives, all cylinders,
that recreate the exact deployment hardware mounting to the source itself.
- ICALI_MNT_OVL The mount region covers the hollow cylinder that mounts
to the manipulator. It is modelled as two concentric cylinders, the outer
specified as acrylic (dark) and the inner as air.
- ICALI_MNT_IVL See previous entry.
The source is only valid in the D2O. It is compatible with the use of the
umbilical and manipulator geometry. Questions or suggestions should be directed
to Mike Dragowsky.
