Umbilical and Manipulator Weight

The umbilical and manipulator weight consist of four regions:-

User Control

The user control of the umbilical and manipulator weight is a little different from the norm. If the enable flag in the GEDS banks of any of the four regions above is switched on, an initialisation routine GEI_SET_UMBIL looks to see if a calibration source is also switched on. If that is the case then this routine uses the position of the source to set the positions and orientations of the three cylinders of the UMBIL_IVL and _OVL, and the position of the MAN_WEIGHT_IVL and _OVL. If no source is switched on then the translation vector in the GEDP bank of UMBIL_IVL is used as the position of the bottom of the umbilical. The command file GEOM_UMBIL_MAN_WEIGHT.CMD can be used to enable the umbilical and manipulator weight assembly.

NOTE: If the geometry of any of the calibration sources is changed in SNOMAN please contact Steve Brice at LANL to alter the umbilical and manipulator weight code accordingly. In addition it should be noted that the dimensions of the umbilical and weight in SNOMAN are reasonable as of Jan '98, but the real dimensions were unavailable at this time.
