As explained in section 10.2.4, version numbers may play an important part in DAMN bank distribution. If there is no entry for the mask in the table, or if the version number is set to -999, then DMM does not perform version number checking and will use 0 as the version number when creating new banks. Otherwise DMM uses the supplied version number for bank creation and generates a fatal error if it finds a version mismatch to an existing bank.
