The network classifier software unit takes each event in turn and extracts various parameters which describe the hit pattern. These are then applied to a feed-forward neural network (if one has been defined) trained to distinguish different classes of event based on the information contained within the parameters. The output of the network may then be used to classify the event. The user may also access the parameters themselves, which can be extremely useful analysis tools, without applying the neural network.
