The Unpacker

The Unpacker (UPK) takes ZDAB data, real or Monte Carlo, and:-

• Stores the header information in the EV bank.

• Unpacks the pmt bundles into the pmt, low gain, outward looking tube, Berkeley Underwater Tube Testing stand, neck tube and other front-end card channel banks: PMT, LG, OWL, BUTT, NECK and FECD.

• Unpacks the NCD sub-fields into the Shaper Card Global, the Shaper ADC, the Mux Global and the MuxScope record banks: NESG, NES, NEMG and NEMS.

There really isn't a great deal to say about the Unpacker!

User Control

The command:-

$upk_make_pbun $on

can be used to switch on the creation of the PBUN banks. These banks contain the information for every pmt bundle in the ZDAB bank. This includes spare and invalid channels as well as those channels that feed the PMT, OWL, LG, BUTT, NECK and FECD banks.

Warning: The only function of the PBUN banks is to allow full access to the contents of the ZDAB to permit analysis of the electronics. These banks do NOT form part of the permanent data structure as, for all connected channels, they duplicate data found elsewhere in the data structure.

The command:-

$upk_tubes_off $on

can be used to to disable all tubes that have been flagged as off.

The command:-

$upk_use_ncd_gtid

allows the GTID to be taken from the NCD data, when there is no PMT GTID. By default events without PMT GTIDs are left as orphans.
