The user can control standard SNOMAN code at execution time with two sets of
commands:-
- The FILE command. This controls the external inputs and outputs by
associating file names and options with SU streams.
- The TITLES and SET BANK commands. Together these give access to, and
modify the contents of, titles banks. These act as ``control panels'' that
connect to the internal workings of the code.
User code can also use these mechanisms so that it can have the same look and
feel. This is clearly important if the code will eventually migate into SNOMAN.
In the case of the FILE command, only the USR stream is available, but may be
used even if the user code does not go into the USR processor (so long as the
user does not also switch on USR!)
The standard USR as supplied provides a simple demonstration of both the FILE
command and a titles bank. For a detailed discussion of titles banks and the
FILE command, see the Programmer's Manual.
