• RULE: All new banks must be cleared through the SNOMAN coordinator before being made public. The objective is to avoid conflicts and overlaps between banks.

• RULE: The creator of a new bank must provide a bank description in a standardised format.

• RULE: Every bank has a bank name of 4 or fewer letters.

• Banks of general interest should have 4 letter names and an INCLUDE file bank_bb.inc should be set up giving bank address mnemonics of the form Kbb_xxx (bb = bank name).

• Banks formats should be kept as simple as possible.
